In our Early Childhood Education 1A course we spend all semester learning how to teach and prepare lessons for young children. We also provide the opportunity for the students to go out into the community and observe two different programs that work specifically with young children. This semester we will be sending your student to South Clearfield Elementary School to observe in the Head Start Program and to spend some time tutoring young students. We will be starting these rotations on April 19th and concluding the rotations on May 17th. The students will not be driving, but walking down to the elementary school. This will be done during class time so no other classes will be missed for this observation opportunity. Your student will come to check in with me at the beginning of class I will then release them to walk down to the elementary school in groups. At the specified time your student will leave the elementary school and walk back to class again checking in with me before the end of the period. If your student does not come back and check in with me before going to their next class I will be marking them truant. This is a major part of their grade and should be an exciting time since we have been working up to this during our class. Your student has signed up for the days they would like to go and should be able to share that information with you. If you have any questions you can contact me by email at [email protected] or you can call the school at (801) 402-8200 and speak to me. Please sign the form below and send this form back with your student. Without a signed form your student will not be able to participate in this activity. Thank you!
